WIA Orientation – An informational session where job seekers unable to find employment, who may need additional services, whether classroom training or on the job training, will learn the process to access funded services and the eligibility requirements.
Resume Writing – This workshop will cover basic to intermediate level resume writing techniques. The do’s & don’ts of resume writing, how to put your knowledge, skills & training on paper in a clear concise way.
Government Jobs Workshop – This workshop will introduce the participant to the PA State Civil Service website. Topics of discussion will include: civil service job search, civil service application and civil service testing.
O*NET – Discover the type of work activities and occupations that you would like and find exciting. You will identify and learn about broad interest areas most relevant to yourself.
OJT – Marketing Yourself – How to use the on-the-job training incentive to secure employment. Find out what it is and how it works.
Interviewing Skills – Find out about the different types of interviews and how to handle those tough interview questions and put your best foot forward to land that next job.
Job Corps – Free education and training program that helps young people learn a career, earn a high school diploma or GED, and find and keep a good job. For eligible youth at least 16 years of age.
Jobgateway Job Search – Jobgateway Enrollment/Job Search is offered to participants who lack basic computer skills and need individual assistance in basic Jobgateway enrollment.
Workshops Presented by Educational Opportunity Centers, Inc
Career Decision Making Workshop with O’net Interest Inventory: this workshop is for the undecided career changer that is looking for a starting point. The workshop includes an Interest Inventory to identify your Holland Occupational Code. From there we look to the High Priority Occupation List (HPO) as well as other market trends to determine future growth trends. The workshop also includes information on preparing for college and financial aid.
Career Exploration for Business fields: this workshop includes an exploration of careers in business, accounting, administration, and marketing. The exploration includes training options, open positions, KSAOCs as well as ways to prepare for a career in this arena.
Career Exploration in Manufacturing & Skilled Trades: Presented by Educational Opportunity Centers- Workshop includes: Employment opportunities; skill set required for these careers; what employers are looking for in candidates; wage data; growth trends; training options; apprenticeship opportunities; and career ladders within this industry cluster. Information will cover both advanced manufacturing occupations and skilled mechanical/construction trades.
Career Exploration in Transportation & Warehousing: Presented by Educational Opportunity Centers- Workshop includes: Employment opportunities; skill set required for these careers; background required; wage data; growth trends; training options; and career ladders within this cluster. Covered will be companies and occupations in the trucking, warehousing, distribution, wholesale, logistics and supply chain management industry clusters.
Career Exploration in Health Careers: this workshop is a comprehensive look at the health careers. Topics covered are training options; career ladders, accrediting agencies, financial aid opportunities, and open positions.
Financial Aid for Higher Education: Everything you need to know about paying for college: FAFSA, PHEAA, scholarships & education incentives.
